John Bonner (No 747) 1st Australian Horse, (born 1873) died at Liverpool of measles and pneumonia 15 October 1915, age 41 after enlisting in the 8th Battalion, "D" Company, 8th Depot Battalion A.I.F. during WW1. He had only enlisted two months prior and had not yet been allocated a regimental number.

His brother William Thomas Bonner had also served with the 1st Australian Horse in the Boer War and had been killed in action 28 March 1900, whilst fighting alongside his brother John.

Another brother 459 Private Patrick Edwin Bonner was an original member of the 9th Battalion and fought from 1915 to 1919.
