Brother of James BRIMSTONE, Manning River, NSW
November 1899 - ATTEMPTED SUICIDE.
Bernard Barton Brimstone, who was brought up in custody, was charged with attempting to commit suicide at Cundletown, on Monday night, Oct. 30th, by taking strychnine.
Accused, who had been arrested by Constable Stein, was remanded for eight days, for the production of evidence.
Dr. Gormley, Dr. Ourtayne, Henry Bennett (from whom tho strychnine was bought), and Constable Stein, gave evidence.
Accused elected to be dealt with summarily, and pleaded guilty, but promised not to repeat the offence.
Fined £1, £1 Is each for the doctors, and 7s costs of court— making a total of £3 9s 2d, which was paid.
