Add my storyBiography contributed by Claude McKelvey
When Thomas Brockett enlisted in 1901 in the 6th QIB and was photographed with the rank and file in The Queenslander, 13 Apr 1901, he noted his N.O.K. as hos sister Mrs. J. W. Thornton (Susan) of Surry St, Red Hill. Boer War Service Paybook for the 6th QIB held by Qld State Archives notes part of his pay was to be directed to his sister Mrs. S Thornton and she is also noted as his sister in his funeral notice.
Thomas Brockett was born on 20 Jun 1817 in Queensland, a son to John Brockett and Esther Graham Brockett (nee Granville). He married Anne Duffy on 30 Nov 1907 in Queensland and they had 4 children. They resided at Cannon Hill in Brisbane and Thomas worked as a fettler for the railways.
