Note- this biography has been prepared based on dates of birth and death pre-entered into this profile by others, and the information below sourced while preparing this biography.

When George Ernest Brown enlisted in 1901 in the 6th QIB and his details were published with the rank and file in The Queenslander, 13 Apr 1901, he noted his N.O.K. as A. D. Brown c/- Webster & Co, Brisbane. In the Boer War Service Paybooks for the 6th QIB, Bk 2 p. 159, it is noted he directed part of his pay to his brother Mr. A. D. Brown (Alfred Dane Brown), c/- Webster & Co, Mary St, Brisbane.

George Ernest Brown was born on 23 Jun 1870 in Queensland, a son to John Edward Brown and Ruth Brown (nee Stevens). He married  Margaret McCullagh (McCullough) on 14 Jun 1921 in Queensland.

George's parents were from England emigrating to Australia with George's older siblings Alfred Dane Brown and Ruth Mary Brown. His father, John, was a plumber who entered into farming at Narangba, Qld. When John passed in 1902 the farm was transferred to his wife, Ruth, in 1905.

When Ruth, passed in 1916 the farm was transferred to her son, George in 1919. In the notice of transmission of the property by death published in The Telegraph (Brisb.), 26 May 1919, p. 7, it notes the claimant was George Ernest Brown a farmer of the same place, Narangba. It is assumed George had been working the farm since the death of his father.
