Arthur Christie
Based upon the age listed at his death (cemetery records) - Arthur was born in about 1873. There is a record of one child named Arthur Christie being born (outside Brisbane) in 1873 (1873 C1346 Arthur Christie Michael Cecilia Moran). Given his death entry lists place of birth in Ipswich, it is highly likely the same person.
Arthur did two 'tours of duty' in South Africa - the first with the 3rd Queensland Mounted Infantry (The Third Contingent under Major W. H. Tunbridge). He was invalided to Australia (arriving 19/09/1900) (Source: The "Official Records of the Australian Military Contingents to the War in South Africa", compiled and edited for the Department of Defence by Lt.-Col. P. L. Murray RAA (Ret.), Government Printer Melbourne, 1911.).
He enlisted again in the 6th Queensland Imperial Bushmen and returned home with the contingent in June 1902.
Arthur after the Boer War was occupied as a Drayman and employed by the Lands Department. In 1916 he was living at Roderick Street, Ipswich, according to a newspaper article reporting his fall from a dray (dislocation and fracture of the left shoulder). (Source: FALL FROM A DRAY. (1916, March 15). Queensland Times (Ipswich) (Qld. : 1909 - 1954), p. 5 (DAILY.))
Arthur Christie passed away in May 1944; his funeral was on 6 May 1944 at Cannon & Cripps Funeral Directors, and he was buried in Lutwyche Cemetery (Gympie Road, Lutwyche).
(Source: Family Notices (1944, May 6). The Courier-Mail (Brisbane, Qld. : 1933 - 1954), p. 6.)
His grave location is ANZ-7-84-54. His age was noted as 71 years. (Source: Brisbane City Council, Grave Location [Cemeteries] Search tool).

Biography contributed by Claude McKelvey
Arthur Christie served twice in the South African (Boer) War, first as a Private S.N. 33 in the 3rd Queensland Mounted Infantry, and second as a Private S.N. 393 in the 6th Queensland Imperial Bushmen.
In 1915 he enlisted for WW1, however, he was found to be medically unfit for active service and discharged before he embarked for overseas.
