Arthur Christie served twice in the South African (Boer) War, first as a Private S.N. 33 in the 3rd Queensland Mounted Infantry, and second as a Private S.N. 393 in the 6th Queensland Imperial Bushmen.
In 1915 he enlisted for WW1, however, he was found to be medically unfit for active service and discharged before he embarked for overseas.
