Henry Carrington Cudmore was born 6 Dec 1872 in New South Wales, a son to Daniel Henry Cashel Cudmore and Harriet Garrett Cudmore (nee Smedley).

He server twice in the South African (Boer) War. First service was as a Private S.N. 170 in the 4th Queensland Imperial Bushmen. Second service was as a Private S.N. 5906 in the 8th New Zealand Contingent.

When he enlisted in 1900 in the 4th Qld Contingent he was living in Queensland and noted his NOK contact details in New Zealand and that his father was living at Victor Harbour in South Aiustralia. It appears following his discharge he went to New Zealand and enlisted in the 8th New Zealand Contingent embarking in 1902.

He is reported as having married Maude Mary Munro in New Zealand. When he passed away in January 1950 he was a retired farmer living in Timaru, South Canterbury, New Zealand.
