When Robert Dempster enlisted in 1901 in the 6th QIB and his details were published with the rank and file in The Queenslander, 13 Apr 1901, he noted his N.O.K. as his mother Mrs. Ann Dempster, Kelvin Grove Rd, Enoggera. The Boer War Service Paybooks for the 6th QIB also note he directed part of his pay to his mother Mrs A. Dempster, Enoggera.
He also served in WW1, Private S.N. 767, 2nd Light Horse Regiment AIF. When he enlisted in Dec 1914 he noted on his Attestation Paper he was single, aged 38, was a carpenter, had previously served in the Boer War in the 6th Qld. Imp. Bushmen, and his N.O.K. was his mother Mrs Ann Dempster, "Claremont", Toowong.
Robert Dempster was born in 1877 at Glasgow, Scotland, a son to Robert Dempster and Ann Dempster (nee Dalzell). He married Marion Orr on 24 Sep 1921 in Queensland.
