Henry George Fordham served twice in the South African (Boer) War. First service was as a Private S.N. 103, 2nd Queensland Mounted Infantry. Second service was as a Private rising to Sergeant then back to Corporal S.N. 3, 5th Queensland Imperial Bushmen.
His younger brother Edward Arthur Fordham (Private S.N. 297) also served with him in the 5th QIB.
