James Ramsay (Ramsey) Greer served in both the South African (Boer) War and in WW1.
His served in the Boer War as a Private S.N. 72 in the 6th Queensland Imperial Bushmen. An article in The Queenslander newspaper from 7 Oct 1954 indicates he had previously served in the Boer War in the 3rd Queensland Mounted Infantry, but the nominal rolls for that unit list the only Greer as being Private John Greer S.N. 75. At the time he enlisted (1901) in the 6th QIB he listed his next of kin as Mrs J. Greer at Innisfail ( his father Joseph Greer had passed away in 1897).
He enlisted in 1914 for WW1 serving as a Sergeant S.N. 1137 in the 9th Infantry Battalion AIF. His Attestation Paper notes his previous Boer War Service in the 6th QIB and later the Miner's Defence Forces. He listed his next of kin as Mrs S. J. Minkin (his mother remarried in 1907) at Innisfail.
James Ramsay Greer was born at Ravenswood Qld in 1883, a son to Joseph Greer and Sarah Jane Greer (nee Noble).
