Newspaper report from 1954 indicates John Greer also served in the 6th Queensland Imperial Bushmen, transfering from the 3rd Queensland Mounted Infantry while still in South Africa during South African (Boer) War.
A James Ramsey Greer served as a Private S.N. 72 in the 6th Queensland Imperial Bushmen and also served again as a Sergeant S.N. 1137 in the 9th Infantry Battallion, AIF WW1. In his WW1 Attestation Papers he noted previous service in the 6th QIB Boer War but not 3rd QMI and he is the only Greer on the nominal roll for the 6th QIB with the nominal roll noting (p. 110) some men joined the 6th in South Africa.
