Kennedon (Kenedon, Kendon) Jeffreys Halse was born in England. He served twice in the South African (Boer) War, first as a Private S.N. 44 in the 2nd Queensland Mounted Infantry, second as a Lieutenant in the 5th Queensland Imperial Bushmen.
