"...318 Private Jephthah (Jeff) Jonson, 4th (Imperial) Contingent, Victoria. The Contingent departed from Melbourne on 1 May 1900 in the Victorian, arriving at Beira on 23 May. He was killed in action on 18 February 1901 at Hartebeestfontein, South Africa. The contingent comprised 31 officers (and 2 supernumeraries), 598 other ranks, with 778 horses and 11 wagons.
