Louis Kingsley served twice in the South African (Boer) War, first as a Private S.N. 69 in the 3rd Queensland Mounted Infantry, econd as a Sergeant S.N. 545 in the 5th Queensland Imperial Bushmen. It is noted on the nominal roll for his second service that he enrolled in the 5th QIB while in South Africa, it assumed he enrolled immediately after his service in the 3rd QMI ended and prior to the 3rd QMI embarking to return to Australia.
