Biography contributed by Claude McKelvey

When George Logan enlisted in 1901 in the 6th QIB and his details were published with the rank and file in The Queenslander, 13 Apr 1901, he noted his N.O.K. as Thomas Logan, Myrtletown, Qld. In the original nominal roll for the 6th Queensland Imperial Bushmen Contingent, held by National Archives, it is noted his N.O.K. was his father. In the Boer War Service Paybooks for the 6th QIB, Bk 2 p. 158, it is noted he directed part of his pay to his mother Mrs. J. Logan, Myrtletown via Pinkenba.

George Logan was born on 19 Sep 1868 in Queensland, a son to Thomas Logan and Jane Logan (nee Kilpatrick). The Boer War Service Paybooks indicate that he was invalided from the war and returned to Brisbane, Australia, where he was discharged 16 Nov 1901. It is unknown whether he continued to suffer ill effects from his service. The Brisbane Hospital committee meeting, medical report, published in The Telegraph (Brisb.), 28 Feb 1905, notes- George Logan, 36, Myrtletown, admitted February 17, died February 24.
