Molesworth. Wednesday, May 18th, was a gala night in Molesworth when many attractions, all designed to entice the people to the local hall, were crowded into the one fuuction. The main purpose of the evening was to raise funds for the local school and for this purpose a concert was arranged. The programme was a varied one and the following artists entertained the well filled hall, Messrs Ramsden, McDonald and Reynolds (soloists), Misses Harris (recitation), McDonald (Highland dances) and Scale (overture) ; Mr. Tom Pearce (Guitar selections) and some of the school children in a humorous scene. The latter part of the programme was devoted to a farce "Sarah's Young Man," in which Misses Ridd, Scale and McAlpln, and Messrs Woolmer, McNamara and Harris gave a creditable portrayal of the various characters. At the conclusion of the concert Mr. J. J. Murphy thanked all who had in any way contributed to the success of the evening. Dancing occupied the remainder of the evening and a good part of the next morning and all voted it one of the best nights held in Molesworth for some years. As the financial result was in the vicinity of £7, the promoters, too, were pleased with the efforts. During the evening opportunity was taken of the presence of Mr. and Mrs. R. S. McAlpin (formerly Miss Bertha Ridd, of Molesworth), to present tokens of esteem and goodwill to Mrs. McAlpin on the occasion of her recent marriage and in recognition of her public spirited work in Molesworth over a long number of years. Crs. O'Callaglan and Williamson conveyed the best wishes of the gathering to Mrs. McAlpin and Cr. McAlpin suitably replied
