Arthur James Alexander McLeod was born on 8 Sep 1866 in Queensland, a son to Angus McLeod and Louisa McLeod (nee Steed). He married Cora Frances Armstrong on 7 Apr 1892 in Queensland and they had 1 child.

He worked as a Station Manager, last at Narada Downs via Tambo, Queensland, before retiring in Rockhampton.
