Walter Naylor was born in England and served twice in the South African (Boer) War. First service was as a Private S.N. 66 in the 4th Queensland Imperial Bushmen. Second service was as a Private (rising to Staff Sergeant) S.N. 285 in the 5th Queensland Imperial Bushmen.
