George Thomas Nugent was born on 26 Feb 1879 in Queensland, a son to Thomas Partlan Nugent and Catherine Nugent (nee O'Shaughnessy). When he enlisted in 1901 in the 6th QIB his father was deceased and he noted his N.O.K. as his sister Miss E. Nugent (Elizabeth Ada Nugent), Highgate Hill. He married Catherine Ann Golloghy on 18 Jul 1904 at Gatton, Queensland, and they had 1 child.
