Ralph Brunker PENNY was born in Barrow upon Soar, Leistershire, England on 15th August, 1879

His parents were Henry James PENNY & Susan BRUNKER

He married Edwina Evelyn BOSTOCK on 2nd February, 1920 in St Barnabas Church, Scottsdale, Tasmania

He served as a Private in the Boer War (SN 518) with the 6th Western Australian Mounted Infantry and returned to Australia in April, 1902 on the ship Columbian

He enlisted to serve during WW1 (SN 95) on 8th March, 1916 in Claremont Tasmania and embarked from Hobart on the HMAT Berrima with the 40th Infantry Battalion on 1st July, 1916 - he returned to Australia on 30th April, 1919 and was discharged on 14th August, 1919

Ralph died in Tasmania on 27th March, 1959 and is buried in the Springfield (St Paul) Anglican Churchyard

He was recommended for a Military Cross on 29th December, 1918 - his last rank was Lieutenant
