Add my storyBiography contributed by Claude McKelvey
When Edward William Rayner enlisted in 1901 in the 6th QIB and his details were published with the rank and file in The Queenslander, 13 Apr 1901, he noted his N.O.K. as A. Rayner snr. c/- Mr. Cran, Doolbi, Isis district. In the original Nominal Roll for the 6th Queensland Imperial Bushmen Contingent, held by National Archives, his N.O.K. is recorded as being his father.
In the Boer War Service Paybooks for the 6th QIB, Bk 2 p. 152, he is entered under the name E. W. P. Rayner and it is noted he directed part of his pay to his sister Miss A. Rayner (Annie Juanita Gertrude Rayner) c/- Mrs. K. Rayner snr., Tiaro. It appears Mrs K. Rayner was transcribed incorrectly and was his mother Mrs. A. Rayner snr.
Edward William Patrick Rayner was born on 7 Dec 1880 in Queensland, a son to Arthur Rayner and Ann Jane Rayner (nee Rutherford). He was living in Gladstone and running his own barber shop when he passed in 1924.
