Add my storyBiography contributed by Claude McKelvey
When Richard Weppler enlisted in 1901 in the 5th QIB and his details were published with the rank and file in The Queenslander, 16 Mar 1901, he noted his N.O.K. as his Mother Mrs J. Weppler, Bega, NSW.
Richard 'Dick' Weppler (also known as Arthur Weppler) was born about 1876 at Bega, NSW, a son to Charles Adam Weppler and Jane Bridgit Weppler (nee Moon). He married Lydia Burgess at Sydney in 1905 and they had 1 child. After returning from South Africa he made his way back to Bega. Around 1910 he and his wife had moved to Dora Creek where he worked as a storekeeper up until he passed. Injuries resulting from his wounding in South Africa continued to affect his health and he passed in Newcastle Hospital in 1925.
