BOER WAR VETERAN'S DEATH.
SINGLETON Thursday
The death has occurred, at the age of 59 of Mr. Charles J. Williams, an employee of the municipal council for 19 years. Deceased was a member of the Hunter River Lancers, formed in Singleton in February, 1894. Mr. Williams went to England for Queen Victoria's diamond jubilee. He won a silver cup for tent-pegging in the colonial competition, and a week afterwards won a gold medal in the Empire com petition for tent-pegging. In 1899, he enlisted for the Boer War. He was In England at the tune of the coronation of King Edward, and won an allcomers' tent-pegging competition He was given a military funeral, which was largely attended.
