21/8/1941 awarded - "Flying Badge"
17/10/1941 ranked Temporary Sergeant
17/11/1941 embarked for overseas service
17/2/1942 disembarked into UK
18/4/1942 promoted to Flying Sergeant
18/4/1943 promoted to Temporary Warrant Officer
11/5/1943 London Gazette - awarded "Distinguished Flying Medal" (DFM)
"Flight Sergeant Carson, who has completed 24 sorties, is a determined and
courageous captain, whose devogtion to duty has set a praiseworthy example.
This was well illustrated during a recent attac on Mannheim. Whilst over the
target area his aircraft was illuminated by searchlights, but he skilfully evaded
them to complete his attack from a low level. On the return fligth the bomber
was hit and severly damaged by anti-aircraft fire Displaying great skill and
resource. Flight Sergeant Carson flew the aircraft safely to base."

to J.Treen), lived in Surrey, England.
Robert was living in Barry, Cardiff when he died.
