When Gordon Lindsay Lyons was born on May 7, 1907, in Murchison, Victoria, his father, John, was 33 and his mother, Elizabeth, was 32.

He married Thelma Ives Smith in 1932 in Victoria. They had two children during their marriage. 

Gordon Lindsay Lyons enlisted in the military on 1942, when he was 34 years old.

He died on February 10, 2001, in his hometown, at the age of 93, and was buried there.
