Wyllie Croker
Wyllie Croker was one of four boys in the Croker family, the others being Harry, Robert and Charles. Wyllie was born in Failford in1895 and attended Failford Public School. His parents were Robert and Sarah Croker. Wyllie was a carpenter and all of Wyllie's family were involved in the timber industry as tree lopers in the Taree, Failford and Nabiac area of New South Wales. Three of the Croker boys served in World War 1. Wyllie,Harry and Robert but sadly both Wyllie and Harry were killed in action on the Western Front. Only Robert was to return to Australia.
Wyllie enlisted on the 11th January 1916 at West Maitland New South Wales and saw war service on the Western Front. Wyllie embarked as part of the AIF ( Australian Imperial Forces) from Sydney on the 2nd May 1916 on the HMAT Honorata.
Wyllie Croker was killed in action in Belgium on the 20th September 1917 and is buried at Menin Gate Ypres Memorial, Ypres, West Flanders, Belgium. Sadly Wyllie has no known grave.
Wyllie is remembered and commemorated at the Australian War Memeorial and the Roll of Honour.

His parents were Robert CROKER & Sarah Jane BASHAM who married in NSW in 1889
