A first intake National Serviceman in 1965, John completed his recruit training at 2 RTB, Puckapunyal. After completing his Corps training with 2 RAR at Enoggera, he was posted to 5 RAR at Holsworthy. John joined the CHQ Support Section of C Company until it was dissolved in late 1966. He was appointed batman to the company 2IC, CAPT Bob Milligan until Bob was KIA. John then worked in the company ’Q’ store till the Battalion’s return to Australia. - Courtesy of Gary Townsend
