Add my storyBiography contributed by Geoffrey Gillon
He graduated with a BA Degree from Sydney University and after teaching for 18 months at the Monaro Grammar School, he went to London in 1912, and entered the London University School of Economics, gaining the Gladstone Prize in his first year. In August, 1914, he left his course unfinished, owing to the outbreak of war, and obtained a commission in the 6th East Lancashire Regiment. His regiment was sent to the front on June 14, and he was killed in action in the Dardanelles on August 9th.
He was the son of Edith Debenham, of "Normanstone," Gladstone Parade, Lindfield, New South Wales, and the late John Willmott Debenham. He is remembered on the grave of his paternal grandparents in Theydon Bois, Epping, Essex, U.K.
