Son of Andrew and Sarah Glew
Resided at 30 Castlemaine Street, Yarraville
Prior to joining the Merchant Navy, Leslie was a Blacksmiths Striker, then studies “Wireless Operations” at Stott’s Correspondence College, Melbourne.
From May 1915 to January 1919 he served on the Troop ships S.S Borda and S.S Port Melbourne as a Wireless Operator. Theses ships transported Soldiers to England during WW1
He returned home in March 1919
After the War he was on the Lady Loch, a ship that served the Lighthouses around Australia from 1921 to 1924 after which he took up a position at Radio Station 3UZ as chief engineer.
He died 25.12.1967 at Newport Age 74
