Gwendoline May BARKER (née LEWIS) was born on the 4th September 1924 at Hamilton, Victoria, Australia and enlisted on the 29th April 1943 into the A.W.A.S. With the service number VF509581.
Miss LEWIS started her rookie training on the 15th June 1943 at Darby, Bacchus Marsh.
Pte. LEWIS was then posted to the 4th D.O.B. Ordnance Melbourne, Victoria on the 12th July 1943.
Pte. LEWIS was then posting to the Anti Gas Stores Gas Mask and Capes N.C.O. school on the 9th November 1943.
Pte. LEWIS was promoted to LCpl. on the 1st March 1944 and was lasted confirmed on the 1st August 1944.
LCpl. LEWIS was then transferred and attended to the Ordnance School on the 11th February 1945.
LCpl. LEWIS was then promoted to Cpl. and discharged from the Australian Women’s Army Service on the 3rd July 1946 after 1115 days of service.
Miss LEWIS then married Keith BARKER at Hamilton, Victoria, Australia in 1951, they have two Daughters and four grandchildren.
Gwindoline and her husband Keith moved to Mackay be near their daughter Roslyn and her Husband Daryl COATE.
