George William Nelson Roberts was the eldest of 6 children of Charles Roberts and Lily Lavinia Tanner. The family moved from Preston in Victoria, Australia to Western Australia in 1905. George worked in Perth, Western Australia as a Labourer prior to enlisting in the RAAF on 18 July 1942. George served as a Leading Aircraftman (Service No: 81343) with 85 Squdron and took his Discharge on 29 November 1945.
Brothers Albert Charles, Leslie Victor, Francis (Frank) William and Ronald Portlock also served in the Australian Defence Forces in WWII.
George returned to Perth, Western Australia, where he worked as a Labourer and Storeman
