He is remembered as Johnston on the Roll of Honour in St. John's Church, The Rock, Central Promenade, Newcastle, County Down.

He is one of three Australian soldiers of WWII who survived the war but who are remembered on the St. John’s, Newcastle, Roll of Honour.
