William (Mick) Michael Buckley was the fifth of seven children of Norman John Buckly (born 1870 in Northam, WA) and Mary Anne Brennan (born 1875 in Toodyay, WA). Norman (aka John), a Farm Hand, and Mary Anne married in 1896 in Irishtown, WA. Mary Anne died in 1910 giving birth to twin sons, and in March 1911, William and an older brother Francis were sent by the Children's Court Toodyay to Clontarf Orphanage Industrial School until they were 18 years of age. Mick was trained as a Boot Repairer, and worked in Toodyay and Perth following his release from Clontarf.
In 1941 Mick enlisted with the AMF as a Private (Service No: W19124)and was in Adelaide River, Northern Territory when he enlisted in the Australian Army as a Private (Service No: WX35707).
In 1943 in Leederville, Perth, WA Mick married Teresa Enid Clarke (born 1923 in Wongan Hills, WA). Teresa was the niece of Dennis's (Mick's older brother) wife. After the War, Mick and Teresa settled in Perth, WA where Mick worked as a Labourer before moving to a prperty at Wanneroo in the mid 1950s. Mick worked for Perth City Council Engineer's Department until he retired in 1975. Mick died in 1982 and Teresa in 2000
