Biography contributed by Chris Buckley

Colin was the youngest of four children of Francis Alfred McGlew (born 1874 in Perth, WA) and Louisa Broadwood (born 1876 at Victoria Plains in WA). Francis was a Farmer in 1897 when he married Louisa at Guidford in WA.

Colin was an Orchardist at Glenn Forrest, WA in 1940 when he married Nancy Peden (born 1915 in Sydney, NSW). Nancy was a Draftswoman. In 1942 Colin enlisted with the ACMF, serving as a Private (Service No:W68851) with Swanbourne Volunteer Defence Corps 3 Battalion until May 1944. In June 1944 he enlisted with the RAAF and was a Leading Aircraftman (Service No:84893) attached to 9 Communications Unit when he was Discharged in January 1946. Brother Kenneth John (Corporal; RAAF; Service No:4583) also served in WWII.

Colin was living at Glen Forest and working as an Orchardist when he and Nancy divorced in 1950. They both remarried - Nancy to John Robert Gibb in 1953, and Colin to teacher Jean Inglis (born 1914 in Bunbury, WA). Colin and Jean moved to Dalwalinu, WA where Colin worked as a Power House Attendant. Colin died in 1976 and Jean in 1987.
