Albert was the only child of Arthur Albert Weir (born 1884 in Carlton, Victoria) and Marion (Minnie) Isabella Hering (born 1889 in Hawthorn, Melbourne, Victoria). Arthur was a Labourer in Melbourne, Victoria when he and Minnie married in 1914. Arthur and Minnie had moved to Ferntree Gully by the early 1920s where Arthur was a Labourer. In 1928 the family was living in Box Hill, where Arthur worked as a Tanner and by 1931 Arthur was an Invalid.

Albert was a Labourer at Box Hill in Victoria in 1933 when he married Jessie May Schuhkraft (born 1914 in Doncaster, Victoria). Albert and Jessie were living in Doncaster, Victoria in March 1942 when Albert enlisted in the CMF. He served as a Private (Service No:V275444) with 57th Infantry Battalion until July 1942 when he transferred to the AIF. Albert then served as a Private (Service No:VX82332) with 2/43rd Battalion in the Middle East (26/8/1942 - 27/2/1943), in New Guinea (8/8/1943 - 31/1/1944) and Borneo (8/4/1945 - 13/10/1945)/ He was Discharged in November 1945. Brothers-in-Law William (Bill) John Schuhkraft (Gunner, Service No:V111653), Stanley Arthur Schuhkraft (Corporal, Service No:VX84788), and Walter Robert Gardiner (Leading Aircraftman, Service No:128283) also served in WWII.

Albert and Jessie remained in Doncaster following the War, and Albert worked as a Labourer. In the mid 1960s they moved to Panton Hill in Hurstbridge, Deakin, where Albert worked as a Furnaceman. By mid 1970 Albert and Jessie had moved to Ringwood in Melbourne, Victoria where Albert was a Mail Sorter. Following his retirement in 1982, Albert and Jessie moved to Bega in NSW. Albert died in 1995 and Jessie in 1999.
