SGT Dennis Vernon 9th Division Signals
Dennis joined the Australian Army in June 1940 and served for five years. He was based in Lebanon, Palestine, Israel, Syria, Libya (Tobruk) and New Guinea with 9th Division Signals. Dennis enjoyed the experience of travelling to new countries. He reached the rank of sergeant with 9th Division Signals.
After the war, Dennis worked in the post office. He enjoyed gardening and had a green thumb.
When interviewed by DVA on the occasion of his 100th birthday, Dennis credited his long life to keeping busy and being very stubborn.
