Ada was the second of four children of John Henry Ellis (born 1876 in Fremantle, WA) and Edith Louisa Ford (born 1874 in Newcastle, NSW). John, a Labourer, married Edith in Fremantle, WA in 1909 and they went gold prospecting before settling at Subiaco in Perth, WA by 1912.

Ada was a Shop Assistant when she enlisted in the RAAF in February 1943. She was an Aircraftwoman (Service No:103722) attached to 5 Personnel Depot (Staff) when she was Discharged in April 1946. Brother James Frederick Ellis (Corporal; Service No:WX28261) and Husband Robert Eden White (Gunner; Service No:VX26807) also served in WWII.

In December 1946 Ada married Robert Eden White (born 1908 in Violet Town, Victoria) in Perth. Robert had been a Farmer/Grazier in Victoria before the War, Ada and Robert settled at Wundowie, WA where Robert was a Contractor before relocating to Armadale (south of Perth) where Robert worked as a Falling Contractor. Following Robert's death in 1950, Ada moved back to Perth where she died in 1962.
