Floyd was the youngest of ten children of William Ebenezer Crole (born 1857 in Richmond, Victoria) and Harriet Mary Parke (born 1869 in Blackeville, Victoria). William was a Labourer at Healesville in the Yarra Ranges, Victoria when he married Harriet at Lardner in West Gippsland, Victoria. They settled in the Gippsland Region (Warragul, Rooroma, Leongatha, Meeniyan, Dumbulk) where William was a Labourer, Contractor and Farm Labourer.

In 1934 Floyd was a Farm Labourer at Boolarra in Gippsland, Victoria when he married Isobel Jane Sloan (born 1912 in Melbourne, Victoria). They settled in the Gippsland Region and Floyd (Service No:VX40718) enlisted in the Australian Army in July 1940. He was attached to 102 Covalescent Depot when he was Discharged in October 1944. Brothers Ernest George (Private; Service No:54867) and Sydney Roland (Private; Service No:10322) and Brother-in-Law Emmerson Peart (Corporal; Service No:10324) served in WWI. Sister Gladys Pearl (V144118) and Brothers-in-Law Emmerson Peart (Private; Service No:V92107), Alexander William McKenzie (Private; Service No:14716) and John Henry Bilson (Driver; Service No:10974) served in WWII.

Floyd and Isobel settled at Mirboo in Victoria where Floyd was a Farmer until the early 1960s when they moved to a farm at Shady Creek at Darnum in Warragul, Victoria. Floyd died in 1973 ans Isobel in 2011
