Aubrey was the youngest of five children of Thomas Benjamin Moles (born 1883 in Emu Bay, Tasmania) and  Louisa Alice Lamprey (born 1887 in Sheffield, Tasmania). In 1910 Thomas was a Labourer at Table Cape when he married Louisa. The family settled at Sisters Creek in Table Cape, where Thomas was a Labourer before moving to Upper Burnie in 1936 where Thomas was a Butcher.
