STATEMENT OF SERVICE

Lee Bailey enlisted in the Australian Army Reserve in 1994 at the 25th Battalion Royal Queensland Regiment’s (25RQR) Milne Bay Training Depot, Toowoomba, Queensland 1 OCT 1994.

Rec Bailey completed the 4/94 Recruit (Gres) course 26 NOV-11DEC 1994 at Wacol, Brisbane.

Completed the 1/95 Infantry IET training at Maryborough Qld

Discharged in 1996 leaving for Australia for England.

Re-enlisted in the Australian Army Reserve (25RQR) November 1996.

Enlisted in The Australian Regular Army 21 FEB 2000.

Marched out of Depot Coy Singleton on 1 APR 2000.

Posted to 3PL A Coy 2nd Battalion Royal Australian Regiment (2RAR).

Served in East Timor from 28 OCT 01 – 21 APR 02 with the 2nd Battalion Group; part of Australia’s commitment to UNTAET.

Corps transferred in AUG 03 in order to gain a trade within RAEME. He was consequently posted to Army Logistics Training Centre (ALTC) in Albury-Wodonga; initially training as a Vehicle Mechanic and elected to instead commence training as a Fitter Armament.

Craftsman Bailey graduated from ALTC in OCT 2005 and was post to ALTC South Queensland for completion of training.

Completed OJT in 2006 and was briefly posted to 7th Combat Service Support Battalion (7CSSB).

Due to a manning shortage during Australia’s growing commitment in the MEAO CFN Bailey was posted from 7CSSB to 2/14 Light horse Regiment (2/14 LHR). There he quickly qualified on ASLAV turret and Support Weapons in order to deploy to Iraq as part of SECDET 12.

Served in Baghdad, Iraq from SEP 07-MAR 08 as an armourer, driver and crewman for SECDET 12’s ASLAV F (V48).

Posted to 7 SIG REGT (EW) as an armourer in 2008. During this “rest” posting he was promoted to LCPL, demoted to CFN and finally promoted to CPL on posting in 2011.

Corporal Bailey was posted to 1 Company, 1st Commando Regiment (1CDO) as regular army support staff in JAN 2011.

Posted to 8/9 Battalion Royal Australian Regiment (8/9 RAR) in August 2011.

Served in Afghanistan from JAN 2012-JUN 2012 attached to C Coy 8/9RAR operating from a patrol base in Miribad Valley as the Forward Repair Team Commander for Mentor Team 3, MTF 4.

Discharged from the Australian Regular Army in March 2013.
