Biography contributed by Geoffrey Gillon

Thomas Corcoran enlisted and embarked with the AIF posted to the 2nd Remount Unit supporting the Light Horse in Egypt / Palestine.

He was hospitalised repeatedly with bronchial complaints in 1916 and on 24 August he was invalided to Australia for discharge as medically unfit. He was discharged on 16 September 1916 Medically Unfit.

He was assigned as a Home Service Driver, where he was assigned to the Australian end of the remount operation at a Camp Supply depot in the Ingleburn area near Liverpool NSW.  He sustained injuries after being "knocked down by two horses" in the course of his duties (Military Board of Inquiry finding) and died in hospital of his injuries.

He was 31 and the son of the late Michael and Annie Corcoran. He was single and his only surviving relative was a sister "Miss A. E. Corcoran", to whom his medals and pension were assigned.
