Biography
"THE LATE CORPORAL G. BENSLEY.
Mrs. Bensley Neale, of Port Pirie, has received news that her brother, Corporal Gordon Bensley, died of wounds on September 16. He enlisted from Port Pirie, and entered camp on September 4, 1915. He became a corporal, and sailed to Egypt. Later on he proceeded to France, where he was killed. He was a prominent worker at St. Paul's Church, and carried the cross for the enthronement of the Bishop of Willochra. Prior to enlisting he was employed at the Globe Timber Mills. He was a brother-in-law of Lieutenant H. R Neale, and was only 19 at the time of his death." - from the Adelaide Chronicle 28 Oct 1916 (nla.gov.au)
