My Brother John Wayne Cottrell served in Vietnam from September 1965 to August 1966. He was a regular soldier. He was a truck driver in the 3rd Field Troop Royal Australian Engineers. His troop earned the nickname of Tunnel rats. He passed away in 1966 at the young age of 54 with an unusual heart condition. He was born in Kingaroy and lived in and around the area until he joined the regular army at the age of 21 in 1963. At the time of his joining he was living in Wooroolin.
