Awarded the Military Cross (after being commissioned into the British Expeditionary Forces on 11 Jul 1916)

"CAMPIGLI.— On August 27, at Brora, 87 Prospect Hill road, East Camberwell, Lieut.-Colonel George Murray, M.C., devoted son of the late James Louis and Catherine Campigli, and loved brother of Mona (Mrs. M. Porter, Scarsdale), Annie, Frank, Don, Jack (deceased, 4th Light Horse, A.I.F.), Chrissie (Mrs. J. Hughes), Will, and Syd, Anzac, 4th Light Horse Regiment and B.E.F.
