Arthur was the third of fourteen children of Richard Jones (born 1840 in Devon, England) and Susannah McCausland (born 1857 in Mudgee, NSW). Richard - a Labourer - married Susannah at Parkes, NSW in 1879, and the couple settled at Condobolin in the Central West of NSW where they raised their family.
Arthur, a Labourer in Parkes NSW, enlisted in the AIF in March 1916. He served as a Private (Service No:5356) with 45th and 18th Infantry Battalions and 5th Machine Gun Coy in France, where he was WiA in 1917 (GSW to thigh). Brother Percy Gordon Jones (Service No:1171) also served in WWI.
Discharged in June 1918, Arthur married Elizabeth Barrowman (born 1877 in Gympie, QLD) at Randwick in Sydney, NSW in 1925. Elizabeth was a Dressmaker. Arthur and Elizabeth settled at Parkes in NSW where Arthur was a Farmer at Greenbrook. He died in 1959 and Elizabeth in 1968.
