Never to meet his son
Frederick or Dick as he was known, and my great grandmother Anthea were married in 1915, right before he shipped out to Europe to serve in the 1st world war. Anthea was pregnant and gave birth to a little boy in early 2016. Unfortunately baby Frederick passed away later that year, just a month before his father, Dick, died from wounds sustained in battle in France. He was 30 years old.

KLEIN.—In sad but loving memory of our dear son and brother, Gunner Frederick John Klein, killed in France, December 21st, 1916.
He gave his life for his country, For honor, faith and right.
With us his memory ever lives
He fought a noble fight.
