Benjamin Champion PREVOST was born on 4th April, 1894 in Adelaide, South Australia
His parents were George Antoine Fabien PREVOST and Emily Elizabeth CHAMPION
He married Maria Caroline Verona RODRIGUEZ on 18th February, 1928 at the Star of the Sea Catholic Church in Cottesloe, Western Australia - Maria was previous married to a Frederick Charles GRAVE and was widowed in 1924 -
Benjamin died on 21st April, 1969 in Western Australia and was cremated at Karrakatta Cemetery
He served in both WW1 and WW2 and returned to Australia on 29th May, 1919 from WW1 and was discharged on 15th October, 1945 from WW2
Biography
28583 Gunner Benjamin Champion Prevost, originally assigned to the 23rd Howitzer Brigade, was a 22 year old wool buyer from Hyde Park, South Australia when he enlisted on 28 April 1916.
He embarked for overseas with the 7th Reinforcements from Melbourne on 25 October 1916 aboard HMAT Ulysses.
While serving with the 15th Light Trench Mortar Battery in France, he was wounded in action on 15 October 1917 but recovered to return to his unit less than two months later.
Gunner Prevost returned to Australia on 30 August 1919 and went on to serve in the Second World War in the Volunteer Defence Corps from 26 March 1942 until 15 October 1945.
Benjamin Prevost was one of the 131 men displayed on an honour board showing members of the Adelaide Rowing Club who enlisted for active service in the First World War.
