Leonard Rockley BROWNLOW was born in Dubbo, NSW on 2nd September, 1893
His parents were William BROWNLOW and Fanny Elizabeth BROWN who married in 1877 - they had 8 children, 5 boys & 3 girls
He had previously served for 18 months as a 1st Lieutenant with the 32nd Battalion in the Senior Cadets before he enlisted at Holsworthy on 27th September, 1915 & attended the No. 1 School of Instruction at Duntroon
He became a 2nd Lieutenant on 20th May, 1916 & was retained in Australia with the Instructional Staff before embarking from Sydney on the SS Napier on 17th November, 1916 with the 33rd Infantry Battalion, 5th Reinforcements
Leonard was Killed in Action at Ypres, Belgium on 12th October, 1917 - no known grave
His name is memorialised on the Australian War Memorial & the Menin Gate Memorial
