"ON ACTIVE SERVICE.

Mr. A. W. Ware, C.M.O., formerly Mayor of Adelaide, has received a cable message that his son, Lieutenant Thomas Sefton Ware, has been awarded the Military Cross for gallantry in France. Mr. Ware's elder son, Driver Charles Ware, is also at the front. Lieutenant Ware was in the wool department of Dalgety & Co., in Brisbane, before he enlisted as the seventh man in the first Queensland contingent." - from the Adelaide Chronicle 04 Mar 1918 (nla.gov.au)
