Signalwoman Marian Teresa Kennedy (Service No:VF296623) enlisted in the AWAS on 29 December 1942 with 4 AWAS Training Depot. Signalwoman Kennedy served with 2nd Signals Training Battalion, 55 Australian Wireless Section, and HQ Specialist Wirless Group. She was attached to AHQ Signals when she was Discharged on 23 December 1946.

Born in 1924 in Bright, Alpine Shire in Victoria, Marian was fourth of five children of Alexander Christopher Kennedy (b1881 in Smoko, Victoria) and Annie Webster (nee Pemberton; b1891 in Mildura, Victoria). Alexander (a Tanner) and Annie married in 1919 in Bright, Victoria where they settled and raised their family and Alexander was a Tanner.

Marian worked briefly as a Domestic Servant and Dressmaker prior to enlisting in the AWAS. In 1947 in Melbourne, Victoria Marian married Norman (Norm) Roy Kaufmann (b1919 in Ascot Vale, Victoria) - Norm, a Mechanic, had served in WWII (Signalman; Service No:VX91357). Marian and Norm settled in Melbourne where Norm worked as a Mechanic and PMG Employee before moving to Geelong. Norm died in 2008 and Marian in 2018.
